Brandeis move to new e-mail service now official

Over the past few days, we’ve all been getting e-mails from Lindsay Barton regarding the move to Gmail. Beginning yesterday at 5:30 pm, students’ e-mails “migrated” from our former e-mail service Bmail to the new Gmail. See Barton’s e-mails after the jump.

Hello!

This is a reminder that this coming Friday, June 25, at 5:30 PM, your email will be transferred from Bmail to the University’s new email service, Gmail.

If you had not yet had a chance to do so, please follow this checklist before your email is moved to Gmail:

* Delete any unneeded mail you do not want migrated.
* Export your Bmail contacts.
* Make a note of your filters in Bmail.
* Archive your email.
* Rename any folders that have special characters in their names (* / + ‘ # ” &).
* Understand how your folders will translate to labels, and rename or reorganize if desired.
* Put tagged emails in folders.
* Save any .exe attachments.
* Save the files in your Briefcase.
* More information about each of these steps is on our Google Apps site:
http://www.brandeis.edu/googleapps

If you have questions not answered on the Google Apps site, please reply to this message to open a ticket with the LTS Google Team.

Thanks!

Sincerely,
Lindsay Barton

Your migration to Gmail has begun. The (#) emails in your Bmail account will take approximately 0 – 2 hour(s) to migrate. While the migration is going on, you may continue to use Bmail as you normally would.

Once the migration is complete, you will receive another email with instructions on how to get started on Gmail. In the meantime, please check this site for Gmail documentation and for a schedule of our Google Apps workshops, including Gmail:

Thanks!

Congratulations!  Your email has been migrated from Bmail to Gmail. This will be the final email you receive in Bmail. At this time, you should start accessing your email through Gmail. For immediate access to your mail, please go to:
http://go.brandeis.edu/gmail

While you will no longer receive new messages on Bmail, you will have access to Bmail until Friday, July 02 at 5pm. At that point, you will no longer be able to access your email through Bmail.

If you last changed your password on or before January 7, you will need to reset your password before accessing Gmail in a local mail client (Thunderbird, Apple Mail, etc.).

Please check this site for Gmail documentation, for a schedule of our Google Apps workshops, and for how to get help:

If you have questions not answered on the Google Apps site, please reply to this message to open a ticket with the LTS Google Team.

Thanks!

Lindsay Barton
