The Elections Commission sent me these preliminary results. I encouraged them to make students more aware that they can obtain these numbers and also to post them on the Union website.

8 comments on “Detailed Preliminary Elections Results”

  1. Rachel Says:

Just a thought- isn’t there some way that the Brandeis People Directory can be linked to the write-in option of the online voting system? It would definitely simplify things if you could be ensured that names were being spelled correctly.

  2. Jessica Says:

Amen to what Rachel said. It seems like Kaamila got a lot of votes, but her name was just misspelled in so many different ways. I wonder if this would have affected her getting in to the final round or not…

  3. Ben Serby Says:

Can someone explain these results? Is there a runoff for some of these races now? How many people actually got elected to the Union judiciary?

  4. Jon Says:

    “12 Anyonebut BrooksPlease 1 0.10”

    Shouldn’t that count towards Kaamila?

  5. Lev Says:

The rules for write-ins say that the Elections Commission will correct for spelling. I’m assuming the commission added up all of the various spellings of Kaamilla’s name to give her the correct total. Either way, it looks like she just barely missed it.

Brooks and Sulsky look really vulnerable. Running unopposed, they only managed to get ~40% of the vote.

Here is how I plan to cast my ballot:
    Noam Shuster
    and
    ABSTAIN

    Go Abstain!

  6. Lev Says:

Brooks and Sulsky are vulnerable. They ran unopposed and only managed to get about 40% each!

    I plan on voting:

    Noam Shuster and ABSTAIN.

    Go Abstain!

  7. Rivka Says:

Kaamila should be on the ballot, if you add up the different variations of her name… cant they do that? I mean clearly “Kaamilla Mohammed” means Kaamila Mohamed!

  8. Lev Says:

They did add up the different variations of her name; but even if you do that, she falls short by about 7 votes.
